Joseph Webb Stag Fireback

This fireback's prominently arched top and highly detailed border are features which distinguish it from more traditional American fireback frames. A pre-revolutionary trade card of Joseph Webb, iron merchant,listed "Chimney backs of all sizes" among the many objects he sold. Engraved by Paul Revere, this trade card locates Joseph Webb's store as being near Oliver's Dock, Boston.
